Cheryl whitley, costume shop foreman

Cheryl Whitley has over 60 (yes, SIXTY) years of sewing experience. Her love for costume construction began as a college professor in Minnesota where she taught sewing and tailoring, but perhaps the bulk of her costuming experience comes from costuming her husband, a traveling actor. Cheryl’s countless costumes have been featured on stages throughout the world including the Miss America stage.

Jessica and Cheryl began working together in 2013. Since then, the dynamic duo has costumed over 40 shows at four universities and ten theaters. “We work well together because our goal is the same: it’s all for the glory of God.” The costume department has been referred to by University Administration as a “pocket of excellence at Anderson University.” Jessica and Cheryl have worked to cultivate an encouraging environment in the SCSA costume shop where students can feel inspired and uplifted.
